Today, the 2014 1 oz Mexican Gold Libertad Coin is available now.

2014 1 oz Mexican Gold Libertad Coin
The design of the 1921 Gold Centenario features Mexico’s national coat of arms on the obverse, depicting the iconic eagle perched on a cactus with a serpent in its beak, surrounded by the inscription “Estados Unidos Mexicanos.” The reverse showcases the Winged Victory monument, also known as the Angel of Independence, which had become an enduring symbol of Mexican liberty since its construction in Mexico City. Minted in .900 fine gold and weighing approximately 41.67 grams, the Centenario was intended not only as a commemorative piece but also as a store of value and investment vehicle for Mexican citizens.
All 2014 1 oz Mexican Gold Libertad Coins are housed in a plastic flip and offer a low mintage of only 4,050 pieces. The Mexican Mint released 1 oz Gold Libertads initially in 1981, followed by a brief issuance between 1991 and 1994, before establishing an annual release beginning in 2000. The highest output for the 1 oz Gold Libertad remains its inaugural mintage in 1981, with 596,000 coins produced.
On the obverse of the 2014 Mexican Gold Libertad, the national coat of arms is displayed. This modern emblem depicts a golden eagle in combat with a snake while perched on a prickly pear cactus. The image is framed below by a semi-circle of oak and laurel, and around the rim are ten historic iterations of the national seal, representing Mexico’s evolving identity through time.
The reverse of the 2014 1 oz Gold Libertad Coin presents the well-known image of Winged Victory. Originally constructed in 1921 during the centennial observance, the Independence Victory Column stands tall in Mexico City, crowned by a statue inspired by the Greek goddess Nike. Behind her, the majestic volcanic peaks Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl rise, lending the scene a distinctive natural backdrop.
